The Hall is administered by the Trustees of the St Luke and St John Ecclesiastical Charity under Charity Commission Scheme CD(T1)101,673.

The Scheme was sealed on 29 March 1994.

The Charity was registered as no. 1078441 on 2 December 1999. Back to top
"The Hall"
The Hall is the successor to various earlier establishments in the Bath Road, Albion Street and Clare Street, which were originally founded under separate charities for the education and recreation of members of the Church of England. Back to top
Hall Income
Hall income is used firstly to cover running costs and maintenance of the Hall and secondly for the religious and charitable work of the Church of England in the Parish of St Luke & St John, Cheltenham. Back to top
Trustees
The current body of trustees comprises the Vicar, the Revd Robert Pestell, the wardens, Simon Barton and Guy Woodcock, and two nominees of the Parochial Church Council (PCC), Margaret Bristol (Chair) (second nominee position vacant). Back to top

The Hall Coordinators are David and Jane Johnson of 34 St Luke's Road, GL53 7JJ, tel 527310.

Terms and Conditions of Use
The hirer shall :
  • Leave the Hall clean and tidy and dispose of all excess rubbish.

  • Indemnify the trustees for the cost of repair of any damage done to any part of the property including the curtilage thereof or the contents of the building which may occur during the period of the hiring as a result of the hiring.

  • Be responsible for obtaining such licences as may be needed whether for the sale or supply of intoxicating liquor, from the Performing Rights Society, from Phonographic Performance Ltd or otherwise and for the observance of the same.

  • Intoxicants must not be sold without prior permission of the trustees and the necessary licence obtained.

  • Comply with all conditions and regulations made in respect of the premises by the Fire Authority, Local Authority, the Local Magistrates Court or otherwise, particularly in connection with any event which includes public dancing or music or other similar public entertainment or stage plays.

  • The hirer shall, if preparing, serving or selling food, observe all relevant food health and hygiene legislation and regulations.

  • Ensure that nothing is done on or in relation to the premises in contravention of the law relatng to gaming, betting and lotteries.

  • Use of the Hall for gambling is strictly forbidden.

  • Ensure that any electrical appliances brought to the premises and used there are safe and in good working order, and used in a safe manner.

  • Ensure that any activities for children under eight years of age comply with the provisions of The Children Act 1989 and that only fit and proper persons have access to the children.
