The Hall is administered by the Trustees of the St Luke and St John Ecclesiastical Charity under Charity Commission Scheme CD(T1)101,673.

The Scheme was sealed on 29 March 1994.

The Charity was registered as no. 1078441 on 2 December 1999.

The Hall is the successor to various earlier establishments in the Bath Road, Albion Street and Clare Street, which were originally founded under separate charities for the education and recreation of members of the Church of England.

Hall Income

Hall income is used firstly to cover running costs and maintenance of the Hall and secondly for the religious and charitable work of the Church of England in the Parish of St Luke & St John, Cheltenham.

 

Trustees

The current body of trustees comprises the Vicar, the Revd Robert Pestell, the wardens, Jonathan Chestney, Marion Burke and two nominees of the Parochial Church Council (PCC), Margaret Bristol (Chair) and Simon Barton (Treasurer).

Hall Coordinators

The Hall Coordinators are David and Jane Johnson of 34 St Luke's Road, GL53 7JJ, tel 527310.

David Johnson is also Secretary to the Trustees.

 Maximum Numbers

The maximum number of people that can be accommodated for public entertainment is 100.

ST LUKE’S CHURCH HALL - CONDITIONS OF HIRE

These apply to the use of the Hall, its exterior and grounds.

Hirers are requested to contact the Church Hall Coordinators if any difficulties arise.  Any alteration or extension to the booking times must be arranged in advance.

The Hall must not be used for any other purpose than that stated at the time of booking.

The Trustees will refund any advance payments if they are obliged to cancel a booking.  Hall hirers will only receive a refund if the booking is cancelled 48 hours in advance.

The responsible person nominated for this booking will be expected to ensure the care and security of the property and its contents, the safety of the occupants, and the reasonable behaviour of all people using the Hall and the car park.

For regular users, this is assumed to be the key holder whose name and contact number should be given to the Hall Coordinators.

Please observe all instructions on notices displayed around the Hall, secure the Hall at the end of the booking, leave it clean and tidy including signing the toilet check list and dispose of rubbish.

Care should be taken to avoid noise nuisance reaching neighbouring houses particularly through open doors or windows and from users behaving inconsiderately outside the Hall.

Cars must only be parked in designated places so that they do not cause an obstruction.

Any electrical appliance must be used in a safe manner.

Any activities for children must comply with the provisions of the Children’s Act 1989 and only fit and proper persons must have access to children.

A license must be obtained for the sale of alcohol. The hirer must also comply with regulations made by any public authority relating to entertainment   All food and hygiene legislation must be observed in the preparation, serving and selling of food.

The hirer shall pay for the repair of any damage resulting from activities for which the Hall was hired.
